Australian Strawweight Claire Fryer signs with the XFC for Season III | XFC Signing
Grand Rapids, MI | April 7th, 2015 – Australia, the land down under, is home to thousands of athletes, but it is also home to one of the premier strawweights in women’s mixed martial arts. The XFC has signed Claire Fryer to a multi-fight exclusive contract. The 4-1 professional fighter has earned an opportunity to showcase her talents on the world stage and will do so in season III of the XFC International Series.
Fryer last appeared on the professional scene in November of 2013, earning a first round TKO over her opponent at just 1:26 into the fight. With a two fight win streak in tact, Claire will look to continue her success as she debuts with the XFC in the coming months. With 2 of her 4 wins coming by way of TKO, it is easy to see that this fighter known as Lil’ Truck packs just that in every punch she throws.
Claire shared with us how her nicknames came to be, as she features two, Killer Bear and Lil’ Truck. “Killer bear was something that just got developed from Claire bear, stemming off of the Care Bear childrens toys, and everyone started using it and I preferred it to any of the other nicknames being thrown around then.” Fryer went on to explain her second, “Lil’ truck came from my old Muay Thai coach. I remember telling him how I wondered if one day I’d fight a girl who hits like a truck and he poked me in the chest and said “no – you are the truck”. It kind of stuck after that!”
Currently residing in Brisbane Queensland, Australia Fryer is a member of the Gamebred Combat Club located in Brisbane, Australia. The 5’3” striking based fighter has an extensive martial arts background with training in Kung Fu, Jeet Kune Do, and her strongest discipline Muay Thai. The natural athlete in Claire is evident in her training regimen and lifestyle. The extreme sports fanatic participates regularly in rock climbing and motor biking. With all of her grit and power shown through her fighting, Killer Bear does have a caring heart, primarily for animals as she is an employee of People for the Ethical treatment of Animals (PETA) Australia division. She expressed her job has a varied task list, as she might be meeting with high level executives to discuss their animal welfare policies in the morning, to body painting activist’s in the evening.
Fryer’s personality is on display daily through both her professions and her social media accounts; if you’re in the mood for intense training and some animal fun, give her a follow. Another area of life where Claire expresses her love for animals is through her diet, as she is a 100% vegan athlete. With a love for fighting, animals. and vegetables, Claire Fryer lives a lifestyle by her morals and is doing so on a premier level. Growing up with the full support from her mother, who competed in Judo gave Claire every opportunity to get to the stage she is now entering. Although her mother passed away before she ever began to fight, Claire knows she would have been her loudest and most admirable fan.
With a strong passion built from her childhood, Claire Fryer now looks to extend her reach internationally with the XFC. Within the coming months she will travel to do just that inside the XFC HeXagon.
