Season II Lightweight Tournament Semifinal Sees Mohamed Hassan Badawy Taking on Willian Cilli | XFCi 10 Night Of Champions Bout Announcement

 

Grand Rapids, MI | May 31st, 2015 – XFCi 10 Night Of Champions will feature seven Season II Tournament bouts. The first fight of the events card will be a Lightweight Tournament Semifinal between Mohamed “Bad Boy” Badawy and Willian Cilli. The event set to take place July 4th will be the first of its kind inside the state of the art XFC International Center in São Paulo, Brazil.

The 21-year-old Badawy (10-3) of Egypt defeated Alex Franco via Tapout due to strikes at 3:23 of Round 3 at XFCi 8 to earn his semifinals berth. The “Bad Boy” features 6 victories by way of KO/TKO along with 1 submission victory as well. Continuing his training at Egyptian Top Team, Badawy looks to take the next step in his XFC career along with another step closer towards the Season II Tournament Championship gold.

Willian Cilli (9-3) also earned his place at XFCi 10 on December 13th in Campinas, as he defeated Luiz Henrique who was forced to Tapout due to Cilli’s Armbar at 4:49 of the second round. The 27-year-old Ubatuba, São Paulo native will represent Chute Boxe Diego Lima once again inside the hexagon for the third time. Willian has an XFC experience advantage over his opponent having had the opportunity to fight at XFCi 7 against Reinaldo Ekson in the first bout of the events evening.

XFC Matchmaker, Eduardo Duarte had this to say about the fight: “These two are incredibly well matched. Badawy & Cilli’s striking and submission skills are among the elite in the tournament, in any of the season II tournament weight classes. It’s been a privilege to watch each of them advance through this seasons matchup’s and either fighter will present a challenge for the opponent who advances on other side of the bracket. It’s also the first time we will see an international fight between an Egyptian and a Brazilian inside the HeXagon!”
